A “small revolution in contraception”? That’s what French President Emmanuel Macron said about his country’s move to provide free condoms for 18-25-year-olds.

From January, young people can collect contraception from pharmacies free of charge as part of a bid to minimize the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

In 2020 and 2021 France experienced a 30% national increase in STI rates.
